Lombard Street

One of San Francisco’s most popular landmarks to visit is Lombard Street, or “The Crookedest Street in the World”. Millions of people visit every year, either walking or driving through the twists and turns of this road. But, to add to all of that, it has some of the best views in all of San Francisco. When going down the street, you’ll see the roads and buildings of San Francisco, as well as the San Francisco Bay and the Bay Bridge, one of the most famous bridges in San Francsico.

Tourist Information

Lombard Street is close to a lot of other popular tourist attractions in San Francisco, like Fisherman’s Wharf and Chinatown, so it won’t take a long time to get there.

However, if you plan to walk up Lombard Street, be prepared for a bit of a streneous walk; the road is very steep.

Getting There

Car: If you want to drive to Lombard Street, getting to it from Van Ness Street your best option. Remember, it is known for being really crooked, so make sure you’re an experienced driver!

Cable Car: If you’re a tourist in San Francisco, cable cars are a signature way to get places. The cable car from Hyde Street will drop you at the top of Lombard Street. Another option is the Powell-Mason cable car, which has a stop at Lombard Street.

Bus: There are multiple buses that can get you to Lombard Street, but the most popular is the one that runs from Union Square. It doesn’t drop you off directly at Lombard Street, but at nearby Columbus Avenue. After getting off there, you just need to walk a few blocks to get to the top of Lombard Street.
