The Ten Best Cyclades Islands In Greece.

The Cyclades are the most famous islands in Greece, but there are so many! How will you know what to choose? Well, I can help you out with that. Today, I’ll be listing the ten best Cyclades islands so that you can choose your favorite with no problem.

10. Ios

Ios, Greece

Ios is an island in Greece famed for its golden beaches. A lot of times, people from Santorini go there, since it is so close.

Ios probably has some of the best beaches in Greece.

9. Folegandros

Folegandros is another island quite close to Santorini. It’s pretty mountainous, and it also has some pretty good beaches. Folegandros wasn’t one of the “popular islands” before, and it still isn’t, but it is definitely getting more attention these days.

Folegandros is also known for having some of the best food in the Cyclades.

8. Amorgos

Amorgos is an oddly shaped island, shaped like a thin line. It is one of the most picturesque of the cyclades, with blue-green waters, white houses, and bougainvilleas growing everywhere. It is a lot closer to Turkey than most Cyclades islands, but not that close.

7. Tinos

Tinos island is just north of Mykonos. It’s not one of the “popular” islands, not at all, but it still gets a good amount of visitors, a lot of them coming from Mykonos on a day trip or to stay a few nights. Tinos is very traditional, so you shouldn’t be expecting another Mykonos, but you should expect enchanting villages, beaches, and wildlife.

6. Syros

Syros is an island pretty close to Tinos, meaning it is also pretty close to Mykonos. Syros is known for its stellar beaches and villages, but its most famous aspect is Syros Easter. Every spring, this islands bursts with life, and visiting Syros during this time is a pretty amazing experience.

5. Naxos

Naxos is a pretty popular and well known island, and its also one of the largest islands in the Cyclades. Naxos is popular in the sense of Mykonos, though. It’s popular because it’s a lot like Tinos, with pretty (but bigger than Tinos) villages and wildlife. The biggest differences are the amount of people and buildings there and the beaches. There are a lot more people and buildings and the beaches are a lot better: some of the best in Greece.

4. Mykonos

If you’ve ever seen a list like this, Mykonos is a lot closer to #1, but not for me. Although I like Mykonos, I find it too crowded, noisy, expensive, and centered for my taste.

You don’t know what I mean by centered? Yeah, I figured. What I mean is that all the activity is sort of centered in one place: Mykonos Town. There’s pretty much nothing to do out of the main town. Sure, there’s Ornos, but all you get there is a beach and some restaurants.

You’ve heard enough about my complaints, though, so let’s get to the good stuff: Mykonos has some of the best beaches in the Cyclades, as well as world-famous nightlife, and a chance to meet celebrities, since they visit the island often.

3. Milos

Milos is an island known for its otherworldly lunar landscapes. It also has amazing beaches, a lot of them with nice sand and white cliffs lining the shore. Its most famous beach, Sarakiniko is a popular cliff lumping place because of the amazing blue water and the chalk-white cliffs.

2. Paros

Paros is an amazing island. I kind of feel that it’s underrated, because people tend to go to Mykonos and ignore this awesome place.

Paros is like the less crowded, less expensive, less nightlify Mykonos. So why go to Mykonos if you can get all of that and more?

I also feel like Paros has better beaches, and it also has amazing hikes, especially in Paros Park, on the northern end of the island. There’s also the location perk; you can take a day trip to Naxos easily, since the islands are literally right next to eachother.

Santorini is the most famous island in Greece and my favorite Cyclades island. So, you may be wondering, if I called Mykonos expensive, how can I not call Santorini expensive? Well, it is. But, I feel like there are a lot more budget hotels, and even if you get a luxury hotel, it’s more worth it than it is in Mykonos.

Santorini is full of delights, like the caldera, the deep blue ocean, the colorful homes of the cliffs, and so much more. It even has its own Pompeii, which is Akrotiri, a village that was taken down by a huge volcano thousands of years ago. Now you can see the amazing ruins.

Santorini also has its own active volcanoes, sort of like Hawaii.
